Four
hundred years. Four events. Four towns. The Henry Hudson Quadathlon.
To celebrate Henry Hudson’s
voyage up the river that bears his name the QUAD offer participants
an opportunity to commemorate this historic Quadricentennial. Run,
swim, cycle, and paddle over, along, and on the beautiful Hudson
River.
In teams or as individuals entrants will run west from the town
of Greenport over the Rip Van Winkle Bridge high above the Hudson
River and into the village of Catskill. After a short out and back
swim in the Catskill Creek cyclists will pedal through Catskill,
along the west bank of the Hudson River, and into the village of Athens. There, canoeists and kayakers will set afloat on the Hudson
and paddle back east around the historic Hudson-Athens Lighthouse
to the finish at the city of Hudson Waterfront Park.
All entrants will receive commemorative t-shirts and a post race
barbecue. Medals will be awarded to top placing teams and first
three males and females in ten-year age groups.
The Henry Hudson Quadathlon begins at 10:00 August 2, 2009 at Columbia
Greene Community College. To participate send in the form from
